Genevieve Rivadelo on Techniques for Teaching Exceptional Children

We are happy to announce that the Chairperson of the Special Education Department of Miriam College and the Executive Director of ALRES-Philippines, Prof. Genevieve Rivadelo, , Ph.D.(Cand.), PTRP, will speak on the Special Education Expo on Techniques for Teaching Exceptional Children.

She writes a regular column in Manila Bulletin entitled “The Special Learner.” She was the Lead Facilitator on Education during the recently concluded 1st National Disability Summit organized by the National Council on Disability Affairs under the Office of the President of the Philippines.

She graduated from the University of the Philippines – College of Allied Medical Professions in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy Degree, and from the University of the Philippines – College of Education in 2000 with a Master of Arts in Education, Major in Special Education Degree, graduating as a Presidential & University Scholar and an Academic Excellence Awardee. She is presently pursuing doctorate studies in the same university.

She has been the Resource Speaker for the Quarterly Early Intervention Seminars of the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines for the past 12 years, and a Trainor , Teacher Training Committee Head, and Resource Person for the various advocacy projects of the AD/HD Society of the Philippines since 2002. A staunch advocate for children with special needs, she has been actively involved in various government initiatives and non-government organization efforts to advance special education in the Philippines and improve the delivery of quality educational and therapeutic services to the Filipino child with special needs.
